Last season’s White River High boys wrestling team managed to crack the Top 10 at the Class 2A state wrestling tournament, with five Hornets qualifying for the big show at the Tacoma Dome.

The good news this time around is three of those state-qualifying grapplers are back for another season on the mat.

Coach Joe Klein’s top returnee is senior Trevor Kurtz, who took fourth in state a season ago at 132 pounds. He kicked of the 2013 season with a 6-3 decision, competing at 152, during White River’s battle against the tough Orting Cardinals.

Also back are Mason Hamilton and Cody Schwab, who qualified for state last year at 106 and 120, respectively, but weren’t among the top placers. At Orting, Hamilton had bumped up to 120 and Schwab earned a 5-2 decision at 145.
