White River tennis closes season with Enumclaw Friday

Last week brought bad news to the White River High soccer team, which suffered shutout losses to Auburn Mountainview and Bonney Lake.

The defeats dropped the Hornets’ South Puget Sound League 3A record to 2-4 with two games to play; the first came Tuesday at Sumner and the regular season concludes Friday with a home game against Enumclaw.

Heading into the week, the Hornets remained in contention for a spot in postseason play; only Lakes and Clover Park had been mathematically eliminated.

Tuesday’s contest, barring a draw, would move one team into sixth place in the SPSL 3A standings. Entering the contest, both White River and Sumner (1-3-1) had six points.

Last week’s play saw the Hornets drop a pair of 2-0 decisions; the first was to Bonney Lake April 27, the other to Auburn Mountainview Friday.
