White River track: Kramer sweeps hurdle events

The White River High boys picked up a pair of victories and the Hornets girls found mixed success Thursday during a three-way track and field meet at Sumner.

The White River High boys picked up a pair of victories and the Hornets girls found mixed success Thursday during a three-way track and field meet at Sumner. Joining the Hornets and Spartans was Clover Park.

On the boys side, White River defeated Clover Park 101-43 and whipped Sumner 98-47. The WRHS girls cruised past Clover Park 118-25 but fell to Sumner 94.5-55.5.

The Hornet boys were again paced by hurdle specialist Kramer Green, a two-time individual winner. He captured the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.34 seconds and took the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 40.41.

Others picking up victories on the day were Collin Green, who won the 400-meter race in 50.07; Mat Dickson, 800 meters, 2:00.29; Marcus Dickson, 1,600 meters, 4:42.99; Kody Gould, 3,200 meters, 10:27.39; Blake Halvorson, high jump, 5 feet, 8 inches; and Austin Shirey, pole vault, 13 feet. Also taking first-place honors was the fleet team consisting of the two Green brother and two Dickson brothers, who won the 1,600-meter relay in 3:31.09.

Finishing second for the Hornet boys were Collin Green int he 200 meters; Marcus Dickson, 800 meters; Gould, 1,600 meters; Sterling Frye, 3,200 meters; Michael Madden, 300-meter hurdles; Caleb Murphy, shot put and discus; Todd Paine-Walsh, javelin;Mat Dickson, high jump; and Markus Kaelin, long jump.

The White River girls were headed by double-winner Lauryn Wate. She was first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.66 and tops in the 1,600 meters at 5:25.10.

Also picking up victories for the Hornet girls were Carley McCutchen in the 100-meter hurdles, 15.6; Antoinette Scholes, discus, 97-9; and Alysa Aashiem, javelin, 100-4.

Earning second-place honors for the WRHS girls were McCutchen, 400 meters; Kelly Coyle, 3,200 meters; Jessica Lindner, 300-meter hurdles; Scholes, javelin; and Miranda Gulla, high jump.

The Hornets will finish the regular season Thursday in Enumclaw as part of a three-way meet also involving Auburn Mountainview, then participate in subdistricts May 13 and 15 at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.
