Trever Anderson was the only White River High golfer to make the first-day cut and survive to play on day two of last week’s state Class 2A tournament.

Anderson carded an 87 on the first day of the tourney and followed with a 102 on May 23 to finish at 189. That left him 39th in a field that started with 80 golfers. Only half competed on the second day.

Three Hornet boys had advanced to the state tourney, staged at The Classic Golf Club in Spanaway.

Playing in the state tournament, but failing to advance to the second round, were Ryne Peterson, who shot an opening-day 91, and Tanner Sherstobitoff, who finished at 98.

Caitlyn Miller was the only White River High girl to make the state tourney, which was played at Lake Spanaway Golf Course.

Miller just missed advancing to the second day of competition. On May 22, she finished her round at 100, one stroke away from making the cut.
