WRHS BOYS TENNIS: Postseason ready to get under way

A 3-2 win over Sumner Friday added one more W to the White River High boys tennis team’s record as it was scheduled to close out the regular season Monday with Enumclaw.

A 3-2 win over Sumner Friday added one more W to the White River High boys tennis team’s record as it was scheduled to close out the regular season Monday with Enumclaw.

Tuesday’s seeding for the South Puget Sound League 3A tournament also came too late for publication. Postseason begins at 2:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Clover Park with the SPSL 3A tournament. Competition continues Thursday and Saturday. The top finishers at the league meet will advance to the West Central District tournament in the spring.

In Friday’s victory, singles Chris Thompson won 6-1, 6-1 and Noah Geehan 7-6 (3), 7-5. In doubles play, Tanner Williams and Josh Mills won 6-3, 6-2.

The Hornets dropped a 4-1 contest to Auburn Mountainview Oct. 7.

Cameron Sautner and Steven Root won the first set 6-0, dropped the second 6-0 and won the third 6-4. Dillon Meyers and Mike Baron won the first set 7-5, but then dropped the next two 6-3.

It was a hard-fought battle with Bonney Lake Oct. 5, but it led to a 5-0 loss for the Hornets.

Will Whitaker went three sets with Taylor Pringle after losing the first 6-3, he won the second 6-2 and lost the third 6-1.

Thompson went three and a tiebreaker with Sam Davidson, winning the first 6-4, dropping the second 6-4 and then losing an 8-6 tiebreaker.

Sautner and Root lost 7-5, 6-3. Meyers and Baron lost 6-3, 6-1. Williams and Mills won the first set 6-4 and lost the next two 6-1, 6-2.
