WRHS BOYS WRESTLING: Geehan, Meagher earn title

With champions Noah Geehan and Dave Meagher, White River High’s wrestling squad finished one point behind Tumwater for fourth Saturday at the Bearcat Invitational in Chehalis.

With champions Noah Geehan and Dave Meagher, White River High’s wrestling squad finished one point behind Tumwater for fourth Saturday at the Bearcat Invitational in Chehalis. Defending Class 3A state champion Yelm won the event with Centralia finishing second.

Geehan won the 171-pound title with a 5-2 decision over Yelm’s Eric Kinder. Meagher won the heavyweight crown with a 7-6 triple overtime victory over Brad Springs of Tillamook, Ore.

Five Hornets earned third-place finishes: Brandon Short, 135; Austin Shirey, 140; Tony Tyler, 145; Caden Pugmire, 160, and Jeff Kisner, 215.

Richard Geddes, 112, and Travis Morris, 171, finished fifth for White River.

WRHS rolled to an 81-0 league win over Washington Thursday. Trevor Kurtz, Geddes, Caleb Maurseth, Gavin Severson, Pugmire, Geehan and Meagher scored pins. Geddes earned the night’s quickest in 16 seconds. Tyler Worthen picked up the lone decision, 10-7.
