The White River High cross country program continued its run of success Thursday afternoon, as both the Hornet boys and girls programs registered dual-meet victories over visitors from Fife and Steilacoom.
Both boys and girls improved to 3-0 in South Puget Sound League 2A competition with the twin wins. The Hornet boys whipped Steilacoom 19-37 and handled Fife 17-45. The White River girls were 19-39 winners over Fife and claimed a forfeit victory over a Steilacoom squad that had only four runners.
The Hornet boys were led by Kody Gould, the overall winner with a time of 16 minutes, 40 seconds. He was followed by Matt Salisbury, second overall, 17:47; Hayden Zirkle, third, 17:59; and Chris Fisher, seventh, 18:53.
In the girls race, White River’s Lauryn Wate finished the course in 20:45 to easily claim the top spot. Others figuring toward the Hornet scoring were Kelly Coyle, third place, 21:30; Christina Ramous, fourth, 22:31; and Katie Simmons, eighth, 24:10.
