Shoplifting teens refuse to speak English, give false names | BONNEY LAKE POLICE BLOTTER

PROWL: Police on April 23 were dispatched to the 8000 block of 183rd Avenue East for a report of a vehicle prowl. The reporting party returned to her car to find the driver’s door cracked open and an iPod missing. Police are investigating.

PROWL: Officers on April 24 took a report from a resident who said an unknown suspect entered a car parked in his driveway and took a GPS unit, a sub-woofer and an amplifier.

SHOPLIFT: Police on April 28 were called to Walmart for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Store security witnessed the suspect opening merchandise and concealing them in her purse. She told police she had only $35 in her account and thought she could get away with taking the item, though police saw $410 in the woman’s wallet, which she said was for an airline ticket. The total cost of the stolen items was $53. She was cited for theft and released.

THEFT: Police on April 28 were dispatched to the 21000 block of 68th Street Court East for a report of the theft of some jewelry estimated at more than $6,500. Police are investigating.

SHOPLIFTERS: Police on April 28 were called to Walmart for a report of two juvenile shoplifters in custody. The two teens were seen selecting several items in the makeup aisle and attempting to leave the store without paying for them. The two girls said the makeup, valued at approximately $100, was for prom. The two were released to the custody of their parents and the information was forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor for possible charges.

DISORDERLY: Police on patrol April 29 witnessed a man walking into the woods behind Fred Meyer who was muddy and wet and had multiple bruises and cuts on his face. Fearing for his safety, the officer followed the man, who was also bleeding from his left ear. He told police he had been jumped by an unknown man. He was transported to a hospital for a medical evaluation.

HOW ABOUT THE REST?: Police on routine patrol April 30 observed a car with expired tabs and pulled over the vehicle. While contacting the driver, the officer noticed a strong smell of burnt marijuana. The driver admitted to having marijuana in the car and turned over a small container to police. Suspecting more, police asked to search the vehicle. The driver consented and a narcotics dog was called to the scene. The dog alerted to the glove box in which a small prescription bottle containing marijuana was found. The passenger said the bottle and the marijuana was his. Both were cited for unlawful possession of marijuana.

BURGLARY: Police late on April 30 were dispatched to the 20000 block of state Route 410 for a report of a theft of beer. Police were given a description of the two teenage suspects. As an officer approached the suspects and activated his lights, they took off into the forest. The officer chased them on foot and caught up to one of the suspects when he fell in a bush. The second suspect was detained by a second officer. One of the juveniles admitted to stealing the beer. His case was forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor for potential charges of theft and minor in possession of alcohol and obstructing. The second juvenile’s case was forwarded fro minor in possession charges.

SHOPLIFTING, OBSTRUCTING: Police on May 1 were dispatched t the Walmart for a report of three juveniles in custody for shoplifting. Store security witnessed one of the juveniles place pet clothing in his waistband. All three suspects understood and could answer in English, but refused to do so and spoke among themselves in Spanish, giving false names. One of the suspects gave a phone number for a parent and police were soon able to identify all of them. Two of the juveniles had warrants. Two of the juveniles were taken to Remann Hall and booked on charges of theft, obstructing and their outstanding warrants. The other was released to her parent.

THEFT: Police on patrol May 3 were flagged down in the 23400 block of state Route 410 by the superintendent of a construction site. During the night, an unknown subject moved a construction vehicle and loaded a four-way valve, weighing nearly a ton, into a vehicle and left the scene. The part is valued at $600. Police are investigating.
