Led by the medalist performance of junior Tyler Inderbitzin, the White River High boys golf team picked up its first win of the season, 50-42 over South Puget Sound League 3A nemesis Bonney Lake Sept. 22. The Hornets followed up the victory with an 85-53 loss to Enumclaw Thursday.

“Enumclaw and Peninsula, the dynamic duo,” coach Al Novak said, noting his Hornets did not play as well against Enumclaw as they did against the Panthers.

Against Bonney Lake, Inderbitzin finished with 44 strokes at High Cedars Golf Course in Orting for 11 points and top honors. Teammate’s Cory Tunnell and Connor Williams finished one stroke behind for nine points each. Dalton Reynolds finished at 47 for nine points too.

In WRHS’s home match Thursday, Enumclaw’s Jake Erickson and Jordan Beals tied for medalist honors at 1-over par 36.

Tunnell led White River with a 42 for 11 points. Kohl Kaelin and Trevor Lubking both earned 10 points, finishing at 48 and 44, respectively. Reynolds finished at 45 for nine points.

A bright spot, Novak noted, was in the junior varsity match where freshman Tanner Sherstobitoff shot his best round of the season, a 41.

The Hornets, 1-3 in league, are looking to add a couple of strokes to their win column. They were scheduled to play Lakes Tuesday – results are available at www.courierherald.com – and host Sumner at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.
