Chamber will host political forum

By Cathy Rigg

With election season in full swing, the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce – in partnership with Green River Community College’s student government – is once again hosting the annual political candidates’ forum at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Enumclaw campus of Green River Community College.

Invitations have been sent to all candidates running for political offices in our area. Confirmations from those who will be attending to date include Dow Constantine and a representative for Susan Hutchison, running for King County executive; Reagan Dunn and Beverly Harrison-Tonda, running for King County Council; John Wise and Liz Reynolds, running for mayor of

Enumclaw; Mike Ennis and Sean Krebs, running for Enumclaw City Council; Cathy Dahlquist, running for Enumclaw School Board; and Tom Albro, running for the Port of Seattle commission.

The format will provide candidates with a set amount of time to share their platform and views with the audience. Following all opening statements, we will open it up to a question-and-answer period.

Past history proves this to be very well attended by the candidates and our business leaders. The public is welcome to attend and there is no charge for this event. Pastries and coffee will be provided. Enumclaw TV will film the event and it can be viewed on Channel 21 prior to the general election, if you are unable to join us.

So mark your calendars for Oct. 15, learn about the candidates and make an informed decision by November 3rd at the general election. Special thanks to Puget Sound Energy for sponsoring the forum.

Remember, your vote is your voice.
