Be like the troops: wear a mask

Don’t fall into the “us against them” mindset.

We’ve lived in Enumclaw for 13 years and have always felt safe and at home here, but the COVID pandemic combined with the current political environment has changed the small town neighborly feel.

The letter about loosing freedom by wearing a mask (“Stop narcing on those who want to live freely,” published Nov. 25) is a good example of the “us against them” attitude that seems to have appeared here. In reality, mask wearing has more to do with protecting others than yourself!A trip to the military base shows what real freedom is. It’s not about you! It’s about protecting your fellow man.

No one knows for positive if wearing a mask is the answer to COVID, but good grief, it’s such an easy thing to do, and what if it does make a difference? Time to drop the very obviously political attitude and quit using the freedom excuse. If our soldiers wear masks to fight COVID (which they do) then why can’t you?
