Bookstore’s demise is big loss for downtown

March 31, 2010 – what a sad day for Enumclaw. Today we are losing a fabulous, independent bookstore. Lindon Books is closing its doors today, forever. Having just made my last purchase there, I gave Robin a big hug and before the tears started flooding Cole Street I had to say farewell to my favorite bookstore.

It is very sad that our community can’t continue to support a “locally” owned independent bookstore. Aren’t you going to miss strolling in to browse through all of those book titles, reading the back covers and having a hard time deciding in which one to escape.

Lindon Books has been a big part of our downtown retail community for a long, long time (I’m guessing around 25 years) and it still doesn’t seem real to me that tomorrow they’ll be gone. But I am very sorry to say that it is real.

Farewell, Lindon Bookstore. You will be greatly missed! And thank you for the adventures!
