Challenges mayor, staff to debate creek issue

Apparently, doing things the way they should be done is not a high priority for the city government of Buckley. I speak of the City Council’s response to the mishandling of the city’s overdraw of their water right from South Prairie Creek. Rather than holding the city administrator accountable they assumed responsibility for his poor decision-making.

Talking to the council members who disagreed with the support by the council regarding diverting excess water from South Prairie Creek and the method of disposal of the excess draw, their response was, “Why this year, the city administrator has gone his own direction since 2004, what makes this year so special?”

But I will not belabor the point any longer. As an alternative, I challenge the mayor and her supporting staff to an equal time debate on this issue in public forum. Then the public can weigh the facts and make up their own mind, rather than being fed bits and pieces of favorable propaganda of city administration’s choosing. What they will see is a bad idea which is: contrary to a court order, contrary to water law, a thoroughly stupid, potentially expensive idea, and is an agreement with organizations with no standing to enter into an agreement of this sort.

And related to this matter, city government is suing city constituents to take their property. Can’t those in charge deal with their constituents? Or is it because of their all-powerful position, they don’t feel the need to bother with that inconvenience?
