I was saddened by the “Voting with your Wallet” letter to editor last week, reflecting obvious questions about amount of money to be raised for school district through our current levy.

The levy committee this year tried very hard to spread information that would have answered those questions; obviously we need to do a better job disseminating that information so voters can make informed choices.

Yesterday I did have an inquiring voter actually contact me with the exact same questions expressed by Mr. Barrie. I was pleased to be able to discuss them and even pass on Randy Stocker’s (Enumclaw School District business and operations director) contact information. Within a few hours I heard back from the individual who had questions and wanted to thank me for connecting him with someone who could provide accurate and timely information. This information resulted in two more “yes” votes.

In the future, please contact your school board member directly with those types of questions. This was one that could have been very easily explained and I feel badly that Mr. Barrie did not take advantage of that opportunity.

For those of you who have questions about any of Enumclaw School District levies, or day to day money matters, I would strongly encourage you to take advantage of our current administration’s willingness to share information. In addition, start attending school board meetings. I have found them to be very informative and the members to be extremely supportive of community members’ questions and concerns.
