GOP is living in a fantasy world

I voted for sane Republicans in the past — now they’re few and far between.

I can’t believe the Republican National Committee is calling the violent insurrection a year ago a “legitimate political discourse.” Maybe they will announce an invasion by the Russians into the democratic Ukraine a legitimate return of the former satellite to USSR rule, or an attack on Taiwan by China as a normal Winter Olympic military exercise. Since Tucker Carlson of FOX News has taken the side of the dictator Putin in regard to the Ukraine and not supporting ours and NATOs efforts, anything now seems possible.

When are the Republicans going to wake up and see themselves in a mirror clearly? I was really hoping there were signs that some members were beginning to look forward to what their legacy will be in the future, and what they were planning as a platform come 2022 and 2024. Instead, they are censoring loyal fellow Republicans who have been working hard for many years before Trump joined the Party. They are eating their own in order to support his Big Lie.

I voted for both Republican former Governor Dan Evans and Senator Slade Gorton years ago, each time they ran. Today their personal ethics and integrity would probably get them censored or expelled from the Republican Party.

The GOP is living in a fantasy land when we have video footage of the invasion of our Capital that totally debunks their position; how can they keep acting as if the insurrection on the 6th was a normal day of tourists visiting? I now expect them to come out with a theory that the whole thing was actually done in CGI by a bunch of Hollywood Antifas and didn’t really happen. This obfuscation is being done in hopes we will not believe what we can see with our own eyes but instead believe the words of liars. What with Trump claiming he will pardon the 700-plus people under federal indictment for the insurrection if elected in 2024, we can see where this is headed. He has already pardoned many of those involved in illegal activities that were direct attempts to keep him as our president.

This whole denial of reality by the Republican Party is turning into group insanity. This is a very sad time for the Grand Ole Party. I can no longer support them.
