Letter to the Editor: Thank you for the 5,000 pounds of food

Reader Mary Bartley updates the community about this year’s Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

For over 30 years the Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has been held on the 2nd Saturday of May. This year the event was held May 11. Nearly 5,000 pounds of food were collected in Enumclaw this year! The food was donated to the POM food bank on Wells Ave.

Sponsored by the National Assn of Letter Carriers and the National Assn of Rural Carriers, this year’s food drive success could not have happened without the efforts of all of the letter carriers, clerks and supervisors who work at the Enumclaw Post Office.

The Plateau Outreach Ministries food bank volunteers worked all day helping to unload, weigh and stock the food bank with the donations. Kudos to all Postal employees and food bank volunteers. Plus a huge”thank you” to all of the residents of the Enumclaw Plateau who donated food. This generosity of taking care of our fellow citizens is a big reason why I love living in Enumclaw. Again, thank you!
