Roe, and the need for generational partnership

Us older folks have let radical voices take over the conversation about abortion.

It seems like yesterday that 2008 presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton echoed her husband while she campaigned on the premise that abortion should be “safe, legal and rare”.

That was a reasonable aspiration in a highly pluralistic society. Fast forward to 2022 when Shout Your Abortion and Ruth Sent Us control the narrative, influence the impressionable.

My generation has miserably failed the daughters and granddaughters of Enumclaw – especially the younger women who have yet to taste the inimitable sublimity of motherhood. I am ashamed of our failure, in fact I’m heartbroken.
