Thank you for addressing discrimination

When I picked up The Courier-Herald this week, the last thing I expected to see on the cover was a GBLT article.

I’m a student at the University of Washington Tacoma, graduating this year with a humanities degree, and I live in Bonney Lake. Although I’m straight and have never felt the sting of homophobia, some of my best friends are trans or queer and I feel outraged by the intolerance they’ve been exposed to. Many people turn a blind eye to prejudices and I wanted to personally thank you for taking the heroic risk of addressing these issues in our conservative community. I’m truly grateful that you gave people of all orientations the attention that they deserve.

Thank you for making a difference and I’m looking forward to your next article.
