A Plateau rhyme for the Christmas time | Wally’s World

T’was the day before Christmas and o’re the Plateau, From Diamond to Buckley we’re all on the go;

T’was the day before Christmas and o’re the Plateau,

From Diamond to Buckley we’re all on the go;

In Buckley’s 410, Bonna’s doing her thing,

She sweeps up the carnage from last night’s wingding;

And in the Bootlegger they’re mopping the floor,

Sweeping yesterday’s spirits out the back door.

The Enumclaw club’s sport their holiday cheer,

And if you get lucky, you might get a free beer;

Inside Timi’s place they’ve lit the gas stove,

Which helps to create a dreamy alcove

While inside the Rainier Jeff expects a large crowd,

And late in the evening things might get rather loud.

‘Cross the street in the “Parlor” they greet the new day,

Tina runs the espresso and prepares a latté;

And in “Monticello” which plys the same trade,

Find Arletta up front, a cappuccino she’s made;

And I’m sure you know Greg our European cook,

His crepes are quite tasty, give his menu a look;

If you want stylish clothes then might I suggest,

Stop by “Bridget’s Boutique,” she’s got some of the best.

If you’re into old thingsan antique kinda geek,

Check “Porter’s” on Cole for the piece you might seek;

If you can’t find it there then what can you do?

Drive to the Krain Inn ‘cuz they have antiques, too.

And Karen will be happy to show them to you,

And she may even serve you a hard drink or two;

Last but not least try “C on C,” you know,

That place has antiques stacked high and low;

And you’re sure to enjoy the owner’s kind face,

And that small, quaint cafe that occupies the place.

I met Joe Poleski, you may know the name,

His scores on the golf range have earned him some fame;

We were standing at the light at Griffin and Cole,

He was full of Christmas spirit, a merry ol’ soul;

Yet he was in a hurry, he had presents to wrap,

Transformers for his sons, or his wife, a Husky cap;

So he ran down the street in his pick-up he did leap,

He started the engine and his horn he did beep;

And I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,

“Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!”
