Valentines Day is around the corner; the Plateau will help you prepare.

VALENTINES DAY EVENTS

There are numerous ways to celebrate love on the Plateau, from sipping wince at the annual Wine and Chocolate Event at the Expo Center to learning about plant care and shopping with local vendors.

Feb. 1

Headworks Brewing in Enumclaw is hosting a Galentine’s Market on Feb. 1, from noon to 4 p.m. There will be a local vendor market, food trucks, and craft beer and mimosas available. Vendors include Til Death Permanent Jewelry Co., The Tinsel Fairy, The Bead Bitches, Soak in the PNW, Drizzle D Hot Honey, and more.

Feb. 6 – 7

The Enumclaw Expo Center’s 17th annual Wine and Chocolate Festival is scheduled for Feb. 6, from 4 to 9:30 p.m., and Jan. 7, from 2 to 9:30 p.m. There are 20 winteries being featured at the event, including Leony’s Cellars, Nota Bene, Sky River Mead, and Wynochee River Winery.

There will also be dozens of other vendors and live entertainment. On Friday, there will be Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos, Kate Wade, Kevin Albert Jones, and Dane Vance Creek; on Saturday, Jeffrey Scott, Allie Jonas, Maddie Walker & Mitch McGee, Joshua Michael Piper, Tyler McGinnis, Tori Whitten, Aaron Saliba, and Nick Mardon.

Ticket information can be found at enumclawexpo.com/p/tickets; general admission tickets come out to about $45, and VIP tickets $80. A “designated driver” ticket is $15.

General admission tickets come with eight starting taste tickets and commemorative glass; VIPs can spend time in their reserved lounge, get a special commemorative glass, 12 tasting tickets, a charcuterie board, and VIP wine selections.

Feb. 7

Ten Trails in Black Diamond is hosting a Valentine’s Pop-Up Market — and pre-Super Bowl party — event on Feb. 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring more than 30 vendors and food trucks.

Feb. 13

Looking for a last-minute gift? Head to Esa’s Dirty Plant Mix in Enumclaw on Feb. 13, from noon to 6 p.m., for a pop-up market with local vendors, flash tattoo and permanent jewelry artists, an ice cream bar, and a ticketed event to learn plant painting. If plants really aren’t; your style, Fill’s Growlers is having its Galentines event on the fame far, from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be pop-up vendors, more flash tattoo artists and piercing specialists, a hat bar, and more. Fill’s will also be debuting a new wine menu and themed drinks.

SINGLE EVENTS

Feb. 18

Breakfast for the Birds: The Enumclaw Garden Club’s 61st annual Breakfast for the Birds event is scheduled for Feb. 18, starting at 9 a.m., at the Enumclaw High School. This year’s speaker is Lisa Taylor on “Pollinators in the Garden.” Tickets can be purchased from the EGC; contact at enumclawgardenclub.info/contact.

Feb. 22

Crafty Connections: The Enumclaw library is hosting Crafty Connections no Feb. 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. for anyone looking to hang out with other crafty people — “If your craft project is easily portable, bring it along! All crafts welcome.” Registration is not required.

Feb. 25

Seed Swap: The Enumclaw library is hosting a CommUnity Seed Swap on Feb. 25, from 3:30 to 7 p.m. This event aims for gardeners and plant lovers of all ages to come and drop off seeds and plants they want to share with others — or pick some up for their own homes and gardens. The library asks you to label your seed container (bag/box) with the common name, appearance, date collected, and any notes (if applicable). There will also be a Seed Information Sheet at the event.

There will be a limited supply of envelopes/baggies to take seeds home in, so please bring your own.

Any leftover seeds will be donated to our Enumclaw Little Seed Library and other local groups.

Feb. 28

Father Daughter Dance: The Enumclaw Rotary’s 33rd annual Father-Daughter Dance is scheduled for Feb. 28, at the Enumclaw Field House. There are two dance times: one from 2 to 4 p.m., and a third from 5 to 7 p.m. This year’s theme is “Royal Tea Party,” and feature sweet treats, cocoa and coffee as refreshments as well as a professional photographer and selfie stations for dads and daughters to memorialize the event.

Tickets are $40 for one dad and daughter, and $10 for any additional children; tickets can be bought at tickettailor.com/events/enumclawrotaryclub.

RECURRING EVENTS

Brewskis with a Newsie: Come meet your local journalists on every first Wednesday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. at Fill’s Growlers (check the back room). This is an informal event where residents can pitch stories, fact-check articles, and talk shop. For more information, email rstill@courierherald.com or call 360-802-8220.

Scottish Dancing: The Plateau Scottish Country Dancers have resumed Monday night classes and are welcoming new members. Classes are from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Danish Hall (1708 Porter St. Enumclaw). Cost is $5 per person and a partner is not required. Dances are taught according to the skill level of those attending, so beginners are always welcome! Scottish Country Dancing is a centuries-old tradition reflecting the music and culture of Scotland. It’s great exercise and a lot of fun! Come see what we do. Coffee with the Mayor: Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro hosts a Coffee with the Mayor on the first Mondays of the month from 9 to 10 a.m. This is a casual session for citizens to meet with him and discuss issues, concerns, and projects.
