ALLS FAIR AT THE FAIRS
King County Fair: The ever-popular King County Fair is back in town, promising four days of amazing entertainment from rodeos, live music, carnival rides, and so, so much more. The event starts on July 17 with a noon kickoff with King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn presenting the Critter Crown Award. The fair continues through July 20. Tickets are $5 for kids 13 and under and $10 for general admission, but discounts are available for purchasing 4-day passes. Rotary Street Fair: The Enumclaw Rotary’s annual Street Fair is scheduled for July 25 and 26, closing down Cole Street for vendors and entertainers. Make sure to sign up for the 3-0n-3 youth basketball tournament at enumclawrotary.com.
Scottish Highland Games: The annual Highland Games at the Enumclaw Expo Center will from July 25 – 27. The event kicks off Friday with free entertainment like the Donald MacRae pub piping competition and a Scottish sing-along, and the official games start Saturday morning. There’s a lot happening all day Saturday and Sunday, so check out the schedule (or buy tickets) at sshga.org.
Handcar races: Wilkeson’s 50th annual Handcar Races are on June 26. The event starts off wth a parade down Church Street at 11 a.m., followed by the races beginning around 1 p.m. If you want to race, make sure you bring cash — it’s $5 per person, per race. You also need a team of three to five people (two, three, or four to pump, and one to push). For more information go to wilkesonboosterclub.org.
SUMMER CONCERTS AND KIDS EVENTS
Tunes by the Trail: There is an array of kids activities and free concerts in Buckley every Thursday from July 11 to Aug 22. Programs for kids start at 11 a.m. at the Buckley Youth Center lawn; acts include Reptile Isle, the Big Bubble Show, and The Rad Scientist. Farm Fresh at the Enumclaw Market: The Enumclaw Plateau Farmer’s Market continues every Thursday through September (except for July 4). The market is open 3 to 7 p.m., and is located on First Street/Kasey Kahne Drive. For more information or to look up vendors, head to enumclawplateaufarmersmarket.org.
Summer Sundays on Cole Street: The city of Enumclaw is hosting two more Summer Sundays events on Cole Street, featuring vendors, crafters, and artists from 1 to 6 p.m. The July 13 market an aerial acrobat circus, and the Aug. 20 event an “epic yacht rock concert.”
Cruise Enumclaw: The monthly cruise is every Friday through September, starting at 6 p.m.
Cruise Buckley: Want more classic cars? Then make sure to attend Cruise Buckley, which is every third Saturday from May through September, from 6 to 9 p.m.
SINGLE EVENTS
July 4
Independence Day Parade: Yes indeed, the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce is again hosting the annual Fourth of July Independence Day Parade, which will start rolling down Cole Street at noon. Get your seat early – the sidewalks get crowded quickly!
July 9
Beetlejuice in the park: The Ten Trails neighborhood in Black Diamond is hosting a movie night featuring “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” on July 9. The movie starts at sunset. This is a BYOB (bring your own blanket) event.
July 18
Getting twisty at the movies: The Ten Trails neighborhood in Black Diamond is hosting a movie night featuring “Twisters”. The movie starts at sunset on July 18. This is a BYOB (bring your own blanket) event. Plus, there will be adult BINGO and a beer garden from 6 to 9 p.m.
RECURRING EVENTS
Brewskis with a Newsie: Come meet your local journalist on every first Wednesday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. at The Dusty Shelf (this is a new location). Scottish Dancing: The Plateau Scottish Country Dancers have resumed Monday night classes and are welcoming new members. Classes are from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Danish Hall (1708 Porter St. Enumclaw). Cost is $5 per person and a partner is not required. Dances are taught according to the skill level of those attending, so beginners are always welcome! Scottish Country Dancing is a centuries-old tradition reflecting the music and culture of Scotland. It’s great exercise and a lot of fun! Come see what we do. Coffee with the Mayor: Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro hosts a Coffee with the Mayor on the first Mondays of the month from 9 to 10 a.m. This is a casual session for citizens to meet with him and discuss issues, concerns, and projects.
TOPS Club meetings: The local Take Pounds Off Sensibly (TOPS) club meets every Thursday morning (8:30 – 9:30 a.m. weigh in, 10 – 11 a.m. meeting) at the Enumclaw Presbyterian Church and Wednesday evening (4 – 5 p.m. weigh in, 5 to 6 p.m. meeting) at the Enumclaw Senior Center Evergreen Room. The Senior Center Pickleball Club meets every Wednesday starting at 10 a.m. at McFarland Park for some good ol’ fashioned pickleball. This is a BYOP (bring your own paddle) event.
