Tacoma-based Northwest Repertory Singers presents “Strike the Harp, Ring the Bells, Sound the Oboe” as this year’s holiday concert. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.

The concert features three guest artists: solo handbell ringer Malia Anderson Johnson, harpist Catherine Barrett, and oboist Shannon Spicciati. The program includes traditional carols and favorite songs of the season, including music by Stephen Paulus, John Rutter and Donna Gartman Schultz.

“Our guest artists are extraordinary instrumentalists,” said NWRS Artistic Director Paul Schultz. “When combined with our 55-voice choir, I have no doubt the magic of the holiday season will encompass all who attend.”

Schultz will give half-hour pre-concert lectures before each performance – at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

NWRS, a supporter of the Proctor-area FISH food bank, invites concert guests to bring food donations to the concert. (Monetary donations cannot be accepted.)

Concerts will be at Mason United Methodist Church, 2710 N. Madison St., in Tacoma. Tickets will be available at the door for $20 general admission and $17 for seniors, students and military (children under 12 are free). Advance-purchase tickets are available online at www.NWRS.org, or by calling 253-265-3042 (or toll free 877-460-5880). Season tickets are also available.

Other NWRS concerts this season include “An Evening with The Coats” March 9, and “Songs of Love, Lust and Laughter” May 19.
