The Spotlight Players and Pierce County Parks and Recreation will present the period comedy “Arsenic and Old Lace” beginning Friday April 20. From the County release on the show:

The year is 1941; the place, Brooklyn New York. Meet the charming and innocent Brewster sisters, Martha and Abby. The two are famous in their neighborhood for their kindness and generosity. Their home has long been a place of peace and refuge, where strangers are welcomed, and the local reverend and neighborhood beat cops can always find a cup of tea and warm biscuits with homemade jam.

But tranquility gives way to hilarious mayhem when nephew Mortimer stumbles upon a deep, dark secret. The return of a long forgotten relative with his partner (an eccentric plastic surgeon), and the antics of the loveable Teddy who’s convinced he’s President Roosevelt, only adds to the chaos.

The production will show at the Meridian Habitat Community Center, located at 14422 Meridian East in South Hill.
