Sport clam and oyster season delayed at Oyster Reserves of North Bay

The sport clam and oyster fishing season at the Oyster Reserves of North Bay (Case Inlet) will open on April 1, 2013.

Action: The sport clam and oyster fishing season at the Oyster Reserves of North Bay (Case Inlet) will open on April 1, 2013.

Effective date: Oyster Reserves of North Bay (Case Inlet): April 1, 2013 through Sept. 15, 2013.

Species affected: All clams and oysters.

Location: Oyster Reserves of North Bay (Case Inlet). This beach is located in Mason County near the town of Victor.

Reason for action: This beach has been open year-round in the past, but recreational effort has increased significantly in recent years and the state’s clam share was overharvested in 2012, requiring a shorter season in 2013. The oyster season on this beach coincides with the clam season.
