“Annie” opens at 7:30 p.m. April 1 at the White River High School theater. Tickets can be purchased at Radio Shack and Arts Alive! in Enumclaw. You can also log on to Brown Paper Tickets’ Web site, www.brownpapertickets.com/event/101099. It’s a great way to check the performance schedule and buy tickets. “Annie” will have four matinees as well as nine evening shows, so there are plenty of options.
Thirteen years ago I saw “Annie” directed by Frank Thompson at the WRHS annex auditorium. I had no idea I was going to be thrilled to the core. I’m embarrassed to admit it was the first play I had seen. It’s never too late to start!
It never occurred to me that I would be in the production of “Annie” 13 years later with the same director. I cannot elaborate how proud and excited I am to be participating with such a talented cast. I am brazenly using this writing opportunity to herald the quality of this production. This is not to promote myself in anyway, but to honor the hard-working individuals who make a production of this size come to fruition. Come see “Annie” and let the cast pull at your heartstrings and put a smile on your face.
I’m inspired by a lot of different places, people and things. Last week my husband Perry and I went to a restaurant in downtown Buckley. The restaurant opened Jan. 18 and is owned and operated by Diana Painter. Diana was raised on the Plateau, moved away to Montana for a few years and came back to open this Western-themed restaurant. While devouring the Colorado Chicken I noticed some exceptional photographs depicting natural scenes of the Northwest hanging on the walls around us. Each piece of art had a small card indicating the title and price. When considering the quality of each photograph along with the matting and frame I knew potential buyers would be getting a wonderful and affordable piece of art. The second thing I noticed on the card was the photographer’s name, Don West. West has an extraordinary portfolio of his photography (dedicated to his wife Shannon) that is available to browse through at The Hitchin’ Post.
Reading West’s comments in the back of the book I learned he resides in Bonney Lake. West is an exceptional photographer. I recommend stopping by The Hitchin’ Post for a tasty meal and take the opportunity to view the beautiful photography.
