It’s a double feature for the Enumclaw City Hall Gallery 2010, now exhibiting the paintings of Payette Still and the jewelry of Sylvia Hillberg.

The Gallery opened both shows Dec. 1 and will continue to show them through Jan. 4.

Still paints images using brilliant color and attention to detail and presents them in Payette Still: Life as a Painter. Community members are invited to meet the artist at the Enumclaw City Hall Gallery from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3.

Born and raised in the Seattle area to ambitious and talented parents, Still quickly demonstrated a passion for the arts. From the early neighborhood plays she wrote and directed to those first works on canvas, she continues to share her passion through dance instruction, jewelry making and painting.

Still blends her jewelry-making background with her paintings through the introduction of semi-precious stones, crystals and other organic media. The influences of the Pacific Northwest are clearly visible in the size, scope and scale of her work.

“Her daring blend of color, texture and media create truly unique visual impressions, and her attention to detail is evident in the finely produced images,” Enumclaw Cultural Programs Manager Gary LaTurner said. “Payette continues to paint, both as a student and a teacher and is always ready for the next challenge and growth experience.”

Hillberg is a longtime resident of Enumclaw. She works with all forms of glass, crystal and natural stone.

Hillberg is a featured artist at the Arts Alive! Gallery and is a juried artist at the annual Art in the Garden show. She has taught jewelry-making classes at the Enumclaw community center and volunteers at More Pennies from Heaven thrift store where she repairs donated jewelry.

She is also an photographer and has had exhibits at Green River Community College and the Enumclaw community center.

“Sylvia is one of many outstanding artists in the Enumclaw area that we are proud to showcase,” LaTurner said. “Her donations to the community are many and her artistic expressions are an inspiration. Please stop by to see another Enumclaw artist’s thoughtful and skilled artwork.”

The city of Enumclaw is currently seeking artists for 2011 exhibits. Call the Cultural Programs office at 360-802-0239 for information.

Gallery 2010 is in council chambers at Enumclaw City Hall, 1339 Griffin Ave. Hours for the exhibition space are 8 a. m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Enumclaw City Hall is closed on national holidays. The gallery is closed to the public Tuesdays for municipal court proceedings.
