BONNEY LAKE

THEFT

• A Fred Meyer employee reported to police at 10 p.m. Dec. 8 that someone stole the catalytic converter from his vehicle between 3 and 8 p.m while it was in the parking lot. The man told officers while driving home he noticed his vehicle made a loud exhaust noise. Once home he saw his catalytic converter was missing. The case is under investigation.

BURGLARY

• Two men reported a burglary at their residence in the 4800 block of Aqua Drive East between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Dec. 10. Officers noted a screen at the rear of the residence was removed and there were muddy footprints on the window sill. Two flat-screen TVs were taken along with a Nintendo, Wii, Playstation, golf clubs, jewelry and money. The case is in under investigation.

ASSAULT

• An officer was dispatched to the scene of a reported assault and theft at 1 a.m. Dec. 10 at The Diamond Lounge. When officers arrived the suspects had fled the scene. The victim, a 35-year-old woman, said she left her cell phone in the bathroom of the bar. A male friend called her phone and a person answered stating they were in the parking lot. The woman went to the parking lot with friends. Words were exchanged between the two groups. The woman said three women and a man punched her and kicked her in the face.

A 29-year-old woman and 24-year-old man said they also were assaulted. The officers noted all parties were intoxicated. A records check indicated the man had a warrant out for his arrest from Kent for assault. He was taken into custody and transported to the Kent police officers. A 35-year-old woman was treated by East Pierce Fire and Rescue emergency personnel and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

• Dispatch reported a disorderly conduct incident at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at Taco Bell. The description of the man matched an earlier call of a man who jumped in front of a car in the Safeway parking lot and yelled obscenities. The officers approached the 48-year-old man at Taco Bell. He was sleeping on a table. The man was told he had to leave the business. The man sat on the table and was told again he needed to leave the business. The man eventually stumbled out of the business. The officers noted the man smelled of alcohol. The man began to yell at the officers outside the business. He was placed in handcuffs and searched. The officers found identification and a can of beer in his coat. A records check found the man had an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence. He was cited for disorderly conduct and booked into the Pierce County jail.

MARIJUANA

• An officer stopped a vehicle at 64th Street East at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 5. The 27-year-old driver was found to have a suspended license. When asked if there was anything in the car the driver produced a Coors beer can used to smoke marijuana and a grocery bag with marijuana in it. The man’s car was impounded and he was booked into the Buckley jail for driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

COCAINE

• An officer stopped a vehicle at 11:47 p.m. Dec. 7 on state Route 410 East. When the officer activated his emergency lights the driver did not stop and began to swerve. The officer suspected the driver was trying to get rid of contraband. The driver finally stopped and the officer asked the 48-year-old woman her name. She gave the officer a false name. After the officer ran the name through the computer and received no results, he confronted the woman. She gave her real name and a background check revealed a felony warrant for escape from the Department of Corrections and other misdemeanor warrants. Her license was also suspended. The woman was placed under arrest and her vehicle was impounded. While en route to the Pierce County jail she told the officer she had crack cocaine in her underwear. The officer confiscated the cocaine, which was worth about $200. The woman was booked for her warrants, obstruction and possession of a controlled substance.

OFF-ROAD BIKE

• An officer was parked in the 18400 block of Sumner-Buckley Highway when a miniature motorcycle passed by heading westbound. There were no license plates, lights, taillights or footrests on the bike and the rider was not wearing a helmet. The officer activated his emergency lights, but lost the bike near the Grocery Outlet parking lot. Two men motioned to the officer the direction the bike went. The officer caught up with the bike and eventually pulled the driver over. The officer ordered the 17-year-old boy to get off the bike. He sat on the bike and looked at the officer. The officer proceeded to pull the boy off the bike and handcuff him. The officer could smell burned marijuana on the boy. A marijuana pipe was found on the juvenile. The boy had no driver’s license or state identification. The bike was impounded and the boy was turned over to the custody of his mother. He was cited for no valid operator’s license, operating an off-road vehicle on the street and no motorcycle endorsement. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor.

SUMNER

ACCIDENT

• Officers responded to an accident Dec. 4 in the 3900 block of East Valley Highway. A vehicle ran head-on into a utility pole and the air bags were deployed. When officers arrived the driver was sitting on the ground. The man said he was just driving home when the air bags hit him in the face. The officer determined the man was driving with a suspended license. A witness reported the man was traveling the speed limit when he crossed the center line and hit the pole without braking or swerving. The driver was transported to the hospital and cited for driving with a suspended license.

DUI

• A witness called police Dec. 4 to report a vehicle that was swerving and crossing the center line of the East Valley Highway. Sumner and Pacific officers found the vehicle in the ditch by the golf course parking lot. The driver said he was trying to get home and backed into the ditch during a turn. The officer asked where he was coming from, and he said “home.” The officer asked the driver where he thought he was and he replied between Auburn and Algona. When the officer told him he was in Sumner, he yelled, “I was right!” The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

PROWL

• A witness called police and said had spotted someone in dark clothing carrying a backpack, looking into a vehicle and entering a backyard Dec. 9. Officers found a woman in a rear outbuilding in the 800 block of Ryan Avenue. She was holding a brass plant stand. She stated that she was looking for her cat and the object she was holding was a candlestick holder. She continued to yell about a cat while she was read her Miranda rights. Police investigated the scene and woke the homeowners who identified the object as theirs. The subject was arrested for burglary and vehicle prowl.
