PUYALLUP – Machinists Union Local Lodge 751-C will hold its second-annual Sporting Clays Shoot May 3 at the Sumner Sportsmen’s Association, 15711 96th St. E. in Puyallup.

The event is a fundraiser for Guide Dogs of America, a California-based charity that provides service dogs and training in their use free of charge to people who are blind or have impaired vision from across the United States and Canada.

Registration for the event will start at 8 a.m. on May 3, with a safety orientation starting at 9 a.m. Shooting will begin at 10 a.m.

The cost is $190 per shooter, or $950 for a team of five. The entry fee covers targets, loaner guns, trophies and lunch.

“We did this last year, and it really was a blast,” said Local 751-C President Ron Coen. “We’re hoping for another big success.”

Details are available online.

Local 751-C is affiliated with Machinists Union District Lodge 751. District 751 is the top-fundraiser for Guide Dogs of America across North America. Over the past five years, union volunteers have collected nearly $1.5 million for the charity, including a record $384,000 in 2013.

“Events like the sporting clays shoot are a lot of fun,” said District 751 President Jon Holden. “But they also raise vital funds for a charity that makes a huge difference in the lives of the people it touches.”
