Allen Yorke Park will be receiving extra improvement funds for the park and its ball fields. An additional $100,000 was recently added by members of the Bonney lake City Council for ball park improvements, bringing the total fund to $375,000.
The three baseball fields were developed in the 1970s and are used by Little League and softball teams. There are also soccer fields at the park.
The plan for the baseball fields is to bring in loads of infield soil and work it into the existing infield areas and to reseed the grass.
Other plans for the park are to clean up the forested area and put in trails. "We would like to open it up some," Assistant Public Works Director Gary Leafe said. "Cut some of the lower branches and open it up so people can see and use the area.'
Allen Yorke Park is 25 acres, with only 15 acres developed.
