On two of the busiest travel days of the year, the Washington State Department of Transportation will offer two additional Amtrak Cascades train trips between Seattle and Portland, Ore., for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Amtrak Cascades will add two trips each day to its regular schedule Wednesday, Nov. 26, and Sunday, Nov. 30:

Train 511 departs Seattle at 12:30 p.m. and arrives in Portland at 4:45 p.m.

“We are delighted to help friends and family get together to celebrate, and we know rail is one of the safest and most fun ways to travel,” said Ron Pate, WSDOT rail corridor director. “Passenger trains are one way we meet our goal of providing multimodal service to our communities.”

In addition to the stops in Seattle and Portland, each train will stop for two minutes in Tukwila, Tacoma, Olympia/Lacey, Centralia, Kelso/Longview, and Vancouver, Wash.

Amtrak Cascades operates four daily round trips between Portland and Seattle; two daily round trips between Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia; and two daily round trips between Portland and Eugene, Ore.

All Amtrak Cascades trains require reservations, and passengers are encouraged to purchase tickets early to obtain lowest fares. Visit Amtrak Cascades or call 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) for reservations and information.
