Angeline Road to close for repaving

Drivers in Bonney Lake will start to see detour signs this week as the city nears completion on the Angeline Road sewer main replacement project.

Workers were set to begin grading the roadway early this week with final paving set to be completed by Monday.

During that time, the road will be closed except to school buses and emergency vehicles from approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each work day.

Bonney Lake Public Works Director Dan Grigsby said earlier this year the sewer line along Angeline has needed more than $100,000 in repairs during the past five years and has finally been replaced.

Grigsby said the repairs are part of work being done in response to the 2006 collapse of a sewer pipe near state Route 162 in Sumner. Grigsby said pipes have been replaced up the hill, back to Angeline Road and will continue to lift station 17, located under the 410 overpass.

Following repairs, the sewer line will have an expected lifetime of more than 40 years.

The total cost of the work is approximately $1.1 million, paid from a Public Works Trust Fund loan taken out after the 2006 incident.

All work on the project is weather-dependent.
