This year’s event was more complete and identified the final resting place of every Marine. Ben tackled the chore as part of a Boy Scout project. Also helping to make the day a success were volunteers from Carbon Glacier Young Marines.

The Enumclaw Area Chamber of Commerce rang up record profits during its annual golf tournament staged last week at the local golf course. The event attracted 112 golfers who enjoyed good weather and a day on the links, followed by dinner and awards. The event clearly surpassed its goal of raising $10,000 (net), according to Cathy Rigg, chamber director. As of late last week she had not received a final accounting, but was hoping the tally might show a profit closer to $12,000.

Headline: “Chuck Smith to Coach New Enumclaw Athletic Club Eleven.” Sunday football, putting the best grid talent in this section against that of other cities in western Washington, appears virtually assured as a feature of the program that will celebrate Enumclaw’s first season in the new high school athletic plant this fall. And hand in hand with this development comes establishment of the long-needed Enumclaw Athletic Club to sponsor independent amateur athletics in the district.
