Be ready for a weekend westbound I-90 detour | WSDOT

From 11 p.m. Friday, April 17, until 5 a.m. Monday, April 20, all westbound I-90 traffic from Bellevue Way Southeast to Rainier Avenue South will be detoured into the express lanes so work on the I-90 Two-Way Transit and HOV Operations project can be done inside the I-90 tunnels.

Whether you’re a Mariners fan headed to King Felix Bobblehead Night or simply headed to Seattle to enjoy a beautiful, sunny weekend, you’ll want to prepare for a full directional detour of westbound I-90.

We expect some significant congestion (heaviest between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.) so please consider alternate routes and adjust your schedule if possible. We did make some adjustments to help alleviate some confusion for drivers in Bellevue trying to get to Mercer Island after our previous westbound detour, including extra signage and law enforcement. As a tip, if you’re coming from Bellevue Way, stay right to get to Mercer Island, get left to go to Seattle.
