Better hurry: Boat decals must be renewed by Thursday

All Washington state boat registration decals expire on Thursday, June 30.

Taking the boat out for the holiday weekend? Don’t get caught with expired tabs. All Washington state boat registration decals expire on Thursday, June 30.

But don’t expect to get a reminder notice in the mail. The Department of Licensing stopped mailing renewal notices last year.

“We’re urging our Pierce County customers to sign up for email reminders at www.dol.wa.gov. While you are there, you can renew online. It’s fast and easy,” Pierce County Auditor Julie Anderson said in a press release. “If you want to renew in person, visit the Auditor’s Office. Mid-week mornings offer shorter wait times.”

Be prepared. Boat owners should bring the vessel’s registration number and valid identification when they renew.

Boat registrations can be renewed online and in person at the Auditor’s Office or at any vehicle licensing sub-agency. Visit the Auditor’s website – www.piercecountywa.org/auditor – for locations and hours.
