Black Diamond hit with phone scams | Black Diamond Police Department

The following is a press release from Black Diamond Police Commander Larry Colagiovanni:

In recent weeks, the Black Diamond Police Department has seen an increase in a telephone scam where the caller claims to be from the Social Security Administration.

The caller claims your social security number was used by someone who was arrested, usually in Texas. The caller asks you to verify your social security number.

Once you give your social security number, you will be told your social security number will be restored for a fee. Even though the call sounds legitimate, do not fall for this; it’s a scam.

Official agencies will never ask you to verify your personal information over the phone; just hang up and then block the number. And as a reminder, the calls claiming you have a warrant for your arrest or missed jury duty are all scams.
