Black Diamond police blotter | April 27 – May 3

Unemployment fraud, used needles, and a pornographic scam.

BLACK DIAMOND

May 3:

– Officers were called to check on an individual who was yelling on 5th avenue around 5 p.m. After they were able to calm the subject down, they went inside for the rest of the evening.

– Police were flagged down by an individual on 5th Ave. around 9 a.m., who told officers they believed their family was plotting against them and that their children were being abused. The BDPD were familiar with the subject and their claims, which have all been unsubstantiated. Still, officers checked on the children and spoke with their guardian before forwarding the case to CPS.

May 2:

– Police were called to Railroad Ave. to the report of people placing stickers on public property around noon. When officers arrived, they removed eight stickers from the area.

May 1:

– Police were called around 9 a.m. by a SE. 295th Pl. resident who learned someone had attempted to use their name and information to file for unemployment. The attempt was unsuccessful.

– Just after midnight, officers were contacted by a SE Adams St. resident who reported a suspicious person ringing their doorbell alarm and then leaving. Police checked the area and found no suspects.

April 30:

– A report came in around 9:30 a.m. regarding two suspicious males carrying tote bags on 3rd Ave. Officers checked the area, but were unable to find the subjects.

– A two-car collision took place in front of the Lake Sawyer Store around 2 p.m. Officers found the collision was non-reportable with no injuries to either drivers, nor damage to the cars.

– Officers were called to 3rd Ave around 10:30 p.m. in regard to a suspicious vehicle. After police arrived, it was determined the individuals inside were homeless and had no place to stay. They agreed to leave the area.

– A call came in around 2 p.m. regarding a used hypodermic needle on Roberts Drive. Officers arrived and found three needles, and properly disposed of them all.

– Officers responded to a call regarding a suspicious person on SE Stevens St. and Tahoma Pl. around 6 p.m. Police found the subject, but no crime had occurred.

April 28:

– Police were called to respond to a car collision on 3rd Ave. around 2 p.m. Officers determined there were no injuries, and the driver was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

– The BDPD assisted Enumclaw police around 9:30 p.m. regarding locating a felony harassment suspect on Roosevelt Ave. Officers were unable to find the suspect.

– Around 10:30 a.m., officers received a call from a SE 296th St. resident about a Lake Saywer dock that had broken and floated away to the middle of the lake. City Public Works was contacted to retrieve and return the dock.

– Officers were contacted by an elderly resident who wanted to report a scam around 10 a.m. According to the subject, they received an email requesting money be sent to a bit-coin account or else pornographic photos of the subject would be published on the internet. The individual just wanted the BDPD to know of the email scam.

April 27:

– Officers were called to Lake Sawyer Road around 12:30 p.m. to help citizens clear a tree that came down, blocking traffic.
