• At 2:53 p.m. July 12 police responded to a residence on Church Lake Drive East. A 41-year-old family member was visiting from out of town and wanted to check on her 66-year-old uncle, who lived alone. The mailbox of the residence was overflowing with mail, newspapers from March were on the front porch and several flies were on windows. Upon entering the residence, police discovered a decomposing body in the bathroom. The medical examiner’s office was contacted. Neighbors who were interviewed stated it was not uncommon for there to be little or no activity at the residence.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

THEFT

• At 12:15 a.m. July 9, while on patrol police observed a male standing next to a red truck behind the parking lot of PETCO at 9311 192nd Avenue E. The man was strapping wooden warehouse pallets to the bed of the truck. The 36-year-old male told the officer he had permission to take the pallets. The suspect provided notes supposedly granting permission to remove the pallets, but they appeared spurious. Another officer arrived on the scene and stated he had arrested the 36-year-old for the same offense already. The man was transported to Buckley City Jail to be held on suspicion of misdemeanor theft.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

• On July 12 police responded to a report of domestic disturbance at a residence on 211th Avenue East. Police determined the 33-year-old husband physically assaulted his 36-year-old wife. The man was arrested for assault domestic violence and transported and booked into the Buckley jail. He was served a temporary protection order prohibiting contact with his wife.

ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE

OF FIREARM

• At 6:38 p.m. July 12, officers responded to a report of an accidental discharge of a firearm at a 95th Street East address. A 41-year-old male said he shot himself in the foot while cleaning his rifle. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital and two rifles were taken for safekeeping. A neighbor stated the man was in an argument with his ex-wife earlier in the day and this may have contributed to him harming himself. He stated he was cleaning his gun in case it was needed for self-defense; he alleged his ex-wife has several friends who are “gang-bangers.”

WARRANT

• On July 9 an officer observed a vehicle traveling in the 20800 block of SR 410 with a missing front license plate. The officer had information about a vehicle with a matching description being driven by a 21-year-old wanted male. The driver of the vehicle was a 40-year-old male, but the passenger was the felon wanted for a parole violation out of Polk County, Ore. The 21-year-old was arrested and transported to Pierce County Jail, where he was booked for the warrant. The 40-year-old was released at the scene.
