A Buckley business owner is hoping police apprehend the crook who broke into her salon, trashed the place and made off with $600 and miscellaneous merchandise.

For the past seven years, Vikki Cowden has owned and operated Shear Magic on Main Street. It’s a familiar stop for regulars, having operated for 15 years as Ladies and Loggers before Cowden took over.

When an employee arrived at work the owning of Dec. 13, she noticed windows were open. When she saw broken glass, she called the police.

Cowden said she has heard of other businesses being targeted and hopes everyone will take precautions.

Under cover of darkness, someone broke the window of a rear door at her business, reached through and gained entry to the building at 912 E. Main.

Aside from cash, the burglars took products, an air compressor and other “really stupid things,” Cowden said. The intruders paused to eat some fruit roll-ups and, not content to simply steal, the intruders also vandalized the interior.

Cowden remains hopeful that police can nab the culprits, but realizes the odds aren’t in her favor. Neighboring businesses were closed or vacant and Buckley City Hall — directly across the street — wasn’t open when the crime occurred.

“Nobody saw or heard a thing,” Cowden learned.
