The 19th annual Flashback Car Show, hosted by the Buckley Firefighters Association, will be a celebration fit for a king Aug. 10 and 11 - the king of rock-and-roll that is.

Aug. 16 will mark the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley's passing and the Flashback festivities will commence at Wally's White River Drive-In beginning at 6 p.m. Aug. 10. Once again, Fire Department Capt. Al Long will be the master of ceremonies and there will an Elvis sighting at 6:30 p.m. when local Elvis impersonator, Dano, will grace the scene.

The entrants shooting for awards should arrive well before 6 p.m. Aug. 10 because parking will be scarce as promoters are anticipating 150 show cars from Sumner, Enumclaw, Bonney Lake and Buckley.

All automobiles from the Plateau and beyond are invited to participate and there is no fee to display a car on the 10th. Judging the entrants will be all of the spectators and participants, who are encouraged to view the cars and make their determination. The awards ceremony begins at 8:30 p.m.

Participants will be receiving awards associated with Elvis era songs. For example, the car with the best flame job will receive the award to the musical strains of the Elvis hit, &#8220Burning Love.” No fees for the entertainment will be charged on the 10th, which is being sponsored by Wally's.

Registration for the Aug. 11 car show will begin at sunrise on and near the Buckley Log Show grounds. The entry fee is $15 per vehicle and the first 200 entries will receive an event dash plaque with this year's logo. There is no admission fee.

The show begins at 10 a.m. and will run until 4 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served by members of the Buckley Firefighters Association, lead by head chef Chief Alan Predmore. Musical entertainment will be furnished by the New Blues Brothers beginning at 11 a.m.

The band will play for about four hours, then all eyes will be riveted to the stage at 3:30 p.m. when officials will hand out trophies and awards in more than 30 different categories.
