Candy buyback brings in 550 kids

Molen Orthodontics bought back 2,000 pounds of candy from the young trick-or-treaters this year as part of its sixth annual candy buyback program.

This year, 550 children participated and of those, more than 400 wore their costumes so they could add an extra dollar to their candy total.

Molen Orthodontics also tried something new this year to make the pot even sweeter. If a child brought in a minimum of two canned food items they would receive an additional dollar. Molen collected approximately 650 canned food items which will be donated to the local food banks.

Half of the candy that was collected gets donated to several local charitable organizations and the other half of the candy gets sent over seas to military personnel who are serving our country.
