A woman and two children escaped serious injury early Friday morning when a car crashed through a fence and into their home on 214th Avenue East in Bonney Lake.

East Pierce Fire and Rescue crews were called to the scene at 1:40 a.m. When they arrived, the driver had fled on foot. He was later apprehended a few blocks away by Bonney Lake Police and Pierce County Sheriff Deputies.

One occupant and the driver of the car were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“Given the impact of the crash and the amount of damage to the house, it’s a miracle that no one was seriously injured,” said East Pierce Lieutenant Matt Jewitt.
