The town of Carbonado has been awarded a low-interest loan of $471,115 for construction of its water treatment facility.

Carbonado received word of the loan last month from the state's Public Works Trust Fund to improve its municipal water system.

"Carbonado is a small community, and as such, has a small ratepayer base with limited resources," said Rep. Roger Bush, R-Graham, a member of the House Capital Budget Committee, which approves the loans. "I'm very pleased to announce that this help is coming their way."

Low- or now-interest loans are available through the state's Public Works Trust Fund to counties, cities, towns and special purpose districts for repair, replacement, rehabilitation, reconstruction or improvement of eligible public works systems.
