King County, on behalf of the King County Flood Control District, is partnering with the National Park Service to host a public workshop on Monday, June 15 to ask for community input on recreation uses, concerns and opportunities on the Cedar River.

The meeting, set for 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Culinaire Room of Renton Technical College, 3000 NE 4th Street in Renton, is part of a broader planning effort to develop a corridor-scale plan for the lower 22 miles of the Cedar River. Members of the public and recreation-related interest groups with knowledge of current recreational uses and ideas for future opportunities on the Cedar River are encouraged to attend this interactive workshop.

The Cedar River Corridor Plan brings together the existing Flood Hazard Management Plan, Basin Technical Plan, and salmon recovery plans to develop a comprehensive corridor-wide vision with a suite of capital projects to reduce flood risks and restore habitat.

With grant funding from the National Park Service, a special workgroup has been formed to ensure that recreational uses on the Cedar River are fully understood and considered as this plan is developed and projects are proposed.

While registration is not required, those interested in attending are asked to RSVP at www.kingcounty.gov/rivers.
