Last year, 150 runners came out to tackle the Chambers Bay 5K Challenge. On July 19, this energizing fun run is back and better than ever.

The race takes place along the Soundview Trail in Chambers Creek Regional Park, which offers breathtaking views of Puget Sound as well as a muscle-straining challenge on the trail’s infamous switchbacks. For runners looking for an easier track, the one-mile dash will take participants out and back on the adjacent Grandview Trail.

“All ages are welcome, and all abilities are welcome,” said Andrea Clay, Recreation Supervisor with Pierce County Parks and Recreation.

The races begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Chambers Creek Regional Park. Before July 1, entry fees will be $5 for the one-mile course and $20 for the 5K. After July 1, fees rise to $10 for the one-mile race and $25 for the 5K. Shirts are also available for $18 each.

Registration forms can be downloaded from Pierce County’s website and participants can also register online. Day-of-event registration will begin at 7 a.m. race day.
