City of Enumclaw lines up summer bluegrass festival

Enumclaw’s Bluegrass Festival, car sale and stadium fundraiser is well on its way to becoming an annual event.

Enumclaw’s Bluegrass Festival, car sale and stadium fundraiser is well on its way to becoming an annual event.

Plans for the festival are moving ahead at a rapid pace. The Enumclaw Expo Center fieldhouse and stadium will be the venue in August when friends of bluegrass come together for what is planned to be the first of an annual event to celebrate the music and the moment. Enumclaw’s Bluegrass Festival will include local and regional bands. The three-day event is scheduled for Aug. 21, 22 and 23.

A current list of likely performers includes Cascade Mountain Boys, Lee Highway, Runaway Train, VZ Valley Boys, Urban Monroes and Country Dave and the Pickin’ Crew. There will be opportunities for jamming, a band scramble and more.

For a little musical diversion, 4Culture and the Performance Network are sponsoring a saw player. Details are still being worked out for food, vendors, volunteers, sponsors and other possible entertainment.

A car sale and the Your Enumclaw Area Stadium (YEAS) Committee’s stadium project fundraiser will also be part of the weekend. Many family-friendly activities are in the works. Outside entertainment includes Junk Chime, an opportunity for kids and adults to make music from recycled trash.
