• Homeschool P.E. provides an opportunity to get together and play with students from other homeschool families. The cooperative play group teaches basic skills in a variety of sports and takes place on Fridays. Koalas, ages 5-7, meet from 10-11 a.m. and Pandas, ages 8 through 13, meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $36.

It offers free assistance with community resources is available to all Pierce County residents. • Sumner Family Center is at Daffodil Valley Elementary, 1504 Valley Ave. in portable No. 1., is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. It’s closed from noon to 1 p.m. Call 253-891-6535. The center provides referrals and services for families, such as immunization programs, health services, parenting classes, home visits, Pee Wee play time, sewing classes and bilingual services for families with children through 6 years.
• White River Family Support Center is located at Wickersham School of Discovery, 250 W. Main St. in Buckley and is open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Call 360-829-5883. Free services include assistance in connecting with community resources. Education and children’s activities are available at the center.
Dancing
• Learn to square dance while meeting friends and staying healthy. The Swinging Squares and Roamin’ Tacomans will host square dance lessons from 7 to 9 p.m. each Tuesday at the Valley Dance Center, 1705 Willow St. in Sumner. The first three lessons are free and are then $3 each week.
• Country Cloggers presents weekly classes from 4-5 p.m. Thursdays at the Valley Dance Center, 1705 Willow St. in Sumner. Partners are not needed and ages 8 and older are welcome. Call 253-272-2282.

East Pierce
Fire and Rescue

• A free cardio-pulmonary resuscitation class will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to noon May 30 A free first-aid class will be taught from 1 to 5 p.m. the same day at the Public Safety Building. For residents who live outside the jurisdiction of EPFR, the cost is $30 for both classes or $20 for one class. Call the station to register.
• Appointments are available for bicycle helmet fittings. The staff sells bicycle helmets for $6.
• Call the station to arrange an appointment for: free station tours, car seat inspections; smoke alarm installations and fire extinguisher training.
• Free blood pressure checks are available at the station during regular business hours.

• The Retired Eagles Activity Club, along with local merchants are sponsoring their annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday. It is open to the public. • A Sring fashion show called “Timeless Design, Fashion Through-out the Ages” is 10 a.m. May 15 at the Bonney Lake Senior Center, 19304 Bonney Lake Blvd. Tickets are $3 for seniors and $5 for persons under age 55, and includes lunch. The show is a fundraiser for the Lions 4 Kids House, an organization that provides clothing and services for underprivileged children in our local area. A drawing will also be held.Raffle tickets are $1 each or $5 for six. Persons will model clothing from Bonney Lake Fred Meyer, Granny’s Attic, Jewell’s Premier Consignment and Value Village in Puyallup.Tickets are on sale now at the senior center.
• The Buckley Youth Activity Center offers free tutoring for students in the White River School District Tuesdays and Thursdays for grades 6-12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesdays for grades K-8 from 6 to 8 p.m. Play-Dayz offers a variety of toddler classes. • Several Bonney Lake High seniors – as part of their senior projects – will be on hand for a Carwash Fundraiser Saturday with the funds going to the Bonney Lake Senior Center. The event, held at the Senior Center at19303 Bonney Lake Blvd., is sponsored by Sharis Restaurant.
• A Used Book Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Bonney Lake Library, takes place May 8 and 9 at the library, located at 18501 90th St. E. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 Saturday. Bag Sale is Saturday at $2 per bag.
