Bonney Lake Court Administrator Katheryn Seymour will be traveling to Texas in July to attend the National Association of Court Management annual conference.

The education chairman of the District Municipal Court Association chose Seymour to make the trip to Gaylord Opryland Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.

"There are only two people going and they pick someone from our little country court," Bonney Lake Municipal James Helbling said. "It really says something for Katheryn and the city of Bonney Lake."

Seymour has been a court administrator and clerk in Bonney Lake for 15 years.

"I was at the police department working as a dispatcher when the opportunity came open," Seymour said. "I love this job. Every day is interesting."

As court administrator, Seymour oversees processing of files coming from the police department citations, scheduling of court hearings, setting payment plans, tracking cases and setting hearing for delinquent notices.

On Wednesday's regular court session, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the court will see 60 to 90 defendants. Thursdays are traffic court, Monday and Wednesdays is reserved for those in custody and Tuesdays or Thursdays are for trials.

"She does a great job," Helbling said. "All the staff works very hard to make this court function."

Along with Seymour, the municipal court staff includes court clerks Geri Resch, Amber Nicolich and Pat Donaldson.
