Department of Revenue holds job fair for veterans

Veterans have many valuable skills to offer a future employer, and the Washington State Department of Revenue (DOR) wants to meet with those interested in joining the ranks of state employees.

Veterans have many valuable skills to offer a future employer, and the Washington State Department of Revenue (DOR) wants to meet with those interested in joining the ranks of state employees.

On Thursday, Feb. 13, DOR is hosting a “Celebrate Veterans” Job Fair. This event, which is exclusively for veterans and military service members preparing for civilian life, runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at its office building at 6300 Linderson Way in Tumwater.

“Veterans bring valuable experience and qualities that are consistent with Revenue’s core values,” Director Carol Nelson said. “We’re honored and privileged when such dedicated, professional and skilled individuals join our team.”

Agency executives, hiring managers and human resources staff will be on hand to help veterans explore the types of jobs at DOR, conduct informational interviews and answer questions.

Representatives from other state agencies, including Thurston WorkSource, the Office of Financial Management and the Department of Veterans Affairs, also will be available to talk to veterans during the event.

DOR employs 1,100 employees and currently has a number of job openings statewide in information services, human resources, revenue collection, administrative support and tax policy.
