Former Pierce County Councilman Dick Muri was appointed to the State House of Representatives by a unanimous, bi-partisan vote of the Pierce County Council.
This house seat was left vacant after Steve O’Ban was appointed to the State Senate after the death of long-time Sen. Mike Carrell.
“I’m grateful for the trust placed in me by both the Republicans and Democrats on the Pierce County Council,” said Muri.
Muri will be sworn in on July 3rd at 6pm in a public ceremony at the Steilacoom City Hall. Judge Jack Nevin will administer the oath.
Previously, Dick Muri served as a Pierce County Councilman fornine years, and as a member of the Steilacoom School Board for six years. Dick and his wife Mary have been married for 34 years. They have four grown children and six grandchildren. Dick served as a Lt. Colonel in the USAF. The family attends St. John Bosco Catholic Church.
