On a recent Friday after school, Makenzie Fong dropped off nearly $350 in coins at U.S. Bank in Enumclaw. The fifth-grade student and her classmates at Sunrise Elementary School raised the money during a week-and-a-half fundraising effort for the Red Cross, where it will be earmarked for the Japanese relief effort. “I saw the devastation on TV and wanted to help,” Fong said.
